Dmitry Medvedev criticized the Russian insurance system – less than 10% of real estate property is insured

Less than 10% of real estate property is insured in Russia, out of all houses, that were burnt-out by summer fires, only 15% were insured, said the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev at the insurance system development meeting. "In general, the insurance institute in our country operates well, but not at the required level", - said Medvedev. "At the present moment, less than 10% of real estate property is insured. No other country in the world has such a low percentage of insured property. In any other country that calls itself civilized, almost all real estate property is insured, apart from the decommissioned one.

"Out of all houses, that were burnt-out by fires, only 15% were insured... This reflects the peoplesattitude towards insuring", - he thinks. It appears to him that ways to develop the insurance system should be found, so that such risks and duries would be the responsibility of insuring structures, and not the state budget.
