Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov opens a new building of one of the oldest schools in Moscow at the Kutuzovsky prospect

The mayor of Moscow - Yuri Luzhkov opened a new building of the Moscow school № 56 named after academician V. A. Legasov, it is located at the Kutuzovsky prospect, western part of Moscow. School № 56 was first opened on September 1st 1927, back then it was called secondary school № 1 of 10th October. In February 2010 construction of a new building began. The building was constructed according to an individual project for 550 students and is fully equipped with modern educational and technologic equipment.

Famous people that graduated from this school are - academician and famous scientist in the field of atomic physics - Valery Legasov, Olympic champion in ice skating - Ludmila Pahomova, juvenile author - Eduard Uspenski, chairman of the Moscow Duma - Vladimir Platonov.
